Coach -
Jenna Rogerson
Jenna began her riding career with a passion for
horses at a very young age. Progressing through
the ranks of Pony Club and the Trillium Circuit
and later the “A” circuit she always knew it
would be something that wouldn’t end at just a
hobby.
Throughout the years Jenna has worked for many
different sales and show barns breaking and
training young horses and starting them on both
the flat and over fences and continuing onto the
show ring. Her first love was jumping, but later
dressage became a new found passion. Jenna grew
up North of Toronto and a majority of her early
riding education came from a popular stable,
Carson’s, where Elliot Stone also started his
riding career.
Jenna then moved to Southern Ontario and
continued riding with Jonathon Chestler, a Grand
Prix rider in the 1990’s, at Southern Cross.
After being a catch rider for many years she
finally purchased a talented young mare in 1998.
Her passion then turned to dressage. In 1999
Jenna started training with Heather Buchner, a
successful member of the Young Riders Dressage
Team and Cindy McMann. Working with Heather, who
was training with Tom Dvorak, Jenna began to
work her way up the National Junior levels in
the recognized dressage world. Her regular
clinics with Gillian Sutherland and Bill Challis
were very successful in preparing her and her
horse to compete up to Basic 4 and Medium over
the following couple years taking many
championship titles.

Upon returning from show season
in 2002 Jenna started riding with Jennifer
Irwin. Her riding to a new direction toward Eventing. She had many opportunities to travel
to CCI *** events assisting Karen Wiggins an
accomplished Intermediate Eventer. The fall of
2003 she took a position at Myrddin Croft in
Poplar Hill, Ontario. Working for Anne Dare, a
former advanced level Eventer and Rolex
competitor, Jenna gained very valuable
experience breaking and training imported and
home bred warmbloods. She also worked with the
sales horses and competed with them in
competitions across Ontario.
After returning from London in 2004 Jenna decided to take a break from horses full time
and return to University of Windsor to study
criminology and psychology. She continued to be
involved in horses through managing a small
boarding stable on the weekends and volunteering
to shadow the head coach in order to gain
experience teaching. Jenna found her way back to
the Hunter/Jumper world when she was fortunate
enough to be introduced to Jane Laframboise a
Level 2 USEF Hunter/Jumper Coach. Jane saw the
potential in both Jenna and her horse and
thought that they would be very successful in
the Hunter ring. Throughout the summer and
winter Jenna trained with Jane and prepared for
the 2005 show season to compete in the Adult
Amateur Hunters. Everything was going very well
and Jenna was quite successful at many indoor
competitions in the U.S throughout the winter as
she prepared for the Ontario “A” Circuit that
coming summer. Unfortunately in the Spring her
horse severely injured itself in the paddock and
was not able to show at all that coming year.
Jenna later took
a position as head groom and barn manager for a
successful Grand Prix Jumper, Margie Gayford, at
Wingberry Farms. Jenna and her two horses moved
to King City horses and for the next two years
Jenna worked along side Margie, her horses and
her clients to learn as much as possible about
how to produce winning riders and horses on the
“A” circuit. Through experiencing all of the
activities that are incurred in managing a show
stable Jenna took every opportunity to learn
even the smallest aspects of caring for and
training show horses at the elite level.
Jenna was also
responsible for the transport of all of Wingberry’s horses and is a fully licensed and
trained “A Class” driver. While working with
Margie Jenna had the opportunity to travel North
America to many top “A” circuit shows such as
West Palm Beach (Winter Equestrian Festival)
Aiken, Atlanta, Quebec, Collingwood, The Royal
and Spruce Meadows multiple times.
Spending countless hours wathcing
ring side, walking FEI rated and World Cup
Courses, and talking and dicussing different
scenarios and training methods with many upper
level riders allowed Jenna to gain very valuable
insight into that elite level of competition and
training. It is because of this she is able to
now share her experiences and knowledge with her
students.
Jenna not only
believes in a strong training program for riders
based on solid foundations, but also on making
sure the horses have a very specific program.
She has had to opportunity to not only ride with
many fantastic trainers but to also be involved
with the management of equines at very elite
levels. Because of this there has been much
opportunity to learn from very experienced
equine professionals such as black smiths,
nutritionists and veterinarians and she is able
to develop a detailed program for each horse.
The success of each partnership depends greatly
on how carefully managed each equine partner is.
This allows each equine to train and perform at
its best!
Jenna coaches out of
Cookstown Ontario. While she does ride and train
herself, her passion is in coaching.
She
currently trains with Susan Duncan and
accomplished "A" Circuit competitor, coach and
EC Judge.
Jenna now has students and horses showing
successfully on the “A” Circuit in both core and
non-core divisions from the Beginner Children’s
up to the 1.20m Junior/Amateur Jumper Divisions. |
